Practical Guide on the Digital Services Act: What are the implications for you?
With the entry into force of the Digital Services Act (DSA), the new product widget evolves and now allows internet users to report a review deemed illegal.
What is the DSA?
The DSA is a regulation of the European Commission, which aims to better protect European consumers when they browse the internet.
To achieve this, it imposes more obligations on actors in the European digital ecosystem so that content published online is better controlled and safer.
Verified Reviews is also concerned, as a transparent and reliable solution for collecting and managing customer reviews.
To learn more about the DSA, we invite you to consult the European Commission article on the subject.
DSA and Review Publication
To meet the requirements of the DSA, we are updating our new product widget so that internet users can report a review deemed illegal.
The internet user must then complete a form to validate their report, which will then be processed by Verified Reviews.
From April 9, 2024, if the "Report" button no longer appears next to your product reviews: this indicates that you are not using the latest version of the product widget.
In this case, we cannot guarantee that you are compliant with the DSA requirements. We therefore invite you to integrate the new product widget by following one of the methods below:
FAQ
Verified Reviews takes care of processing the reported reviews, so you have no additional burden on your side. It is the analysis of the elements provided as part of the review report that will allow Verified Reviews to determine whether the review should remain published or not. If the review is rejected, you will be notified, and so will the author of the review. In the opposite case, only the author of the report will be notified.
It is possible that this is the case. We invite you to consult this French article or to seek advice from a specialized legal advisor if you have any questions. If in doubt, you can integrate our latest version of the product widget, which meets the requirements of this new regulation.
This article explains in detail how to integrate it into your website. If you use an e-commerce solution like Prestashop, Shopify, or Magento 2, you can easily integrate it with our dedicated connector for each of these solutions.
The easiest way is to integrate our new product widget. However, you can also integrate your own review reporting system on your website to ensure compliance.
No. However, if the review is rejected following the report, you will receive a notification specifying the rejected review and the reason for rejection.
No, reporting from the new product widget is reserved for internet users. As a Verified Reviews client, you can report the review directly from your client area, using the reason "The review submitted is considered inappropriate, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, accusatory, racist, or contains a call to legal action."
You can then disable the native display of the Prestashop connector and manually integrate our widget. If you do not wish to disable the native display of Prestashop: note that this display issue should be resolved very soon by our teams.
