Show stars in Google Ads - Google Seller Ratings

What are Google Seller Ratings?

"Google Seller Ratings," also known as "Google Merchant Reviews," are a type of automatic extension for Google Ads campaigns.

These extensions manifest by displaying stars and the number of customer reviews for your site, which are referred to as "brand reviews."

They provide a comprehensive view of the overall quality of your business and customer satisfaction.

It is important to differentiate between "Google Merchant Reviews" and "Google Customer Reviews".

Where do Google Seller Ratings appear?

Google Seller Ratings appear in three places:

  • Under Google Ads text ads: directly below your site's URL in Google ads,
  • In rich results: next to search results featuring a specific merchant,
  • In free product listings on Google: next to a merchant's name on free product listings in Google search results or in the Shopping section.

Here are some display examples:

How do Google Seller Ratings work?

Google collects reviews from reliable sources that gather merchant reviews at the country level.
Three review sources are considered by Google, which consolidates them to offer users an overall average rating:
  • Source 1: Google Customer Reviews: a free program that collects reviews after purchases on behalf of merchants,
  • Source 2: Statistical surveys conducted by Google to measure post-purchase satisfaction,
  • Source 3: Reviews related to purchases from your store's domain (including comments from independent sources like Verified Reviews by Skeepers).

Benefits of Google Seller Ratings

The star display provides prospects with information on the reliability and seriousness of your site.

It improves the visibility of ads and serves as a lever to promote trust and transparency.

Thus, Google Seller Ratings:

  • Improve your e-reputation,
  • Increase your click-through rate (CTR),
  • Reduce your Google Ads cost per click (CPC),
  • Improve the position of your ads in search results,
  • Increase the volume of paid traffic.

Conditions for displaying Google Seller Ratings

Synchronization with Google Ads becomes possible once you have:

  • Reached a theoretical threshold of 100 brand reviews over the last 12 months (this time condition is imposed by Google to ensure your business is still active),
  • Achieved an average rating of 3.5/5 or higher: this rating is calculated by Google's algorithm as the overall average of reviews collected from various sources.

To access Google Seller Ratings, it is not necessary to have a Google Merchant Center account (unlike Google Customer Reviews).

You can check the correct transmission of the feed at any time using the following link:

Replace {LANG} with: FR, US, ES, IT, etc.

Please note that Google never retains subdomains.

For example, if you use URLs like us.example.com, mail.example.com, or docs.example.com, the URL displayed on your Google Seller Ratings page will be:

  • The URL visible on the ad must match the one displayed on your Seller Ratings page:

Only Google decides whether to display the stars

If they do not appear, check that your reviews have been received by Google:
